My Neil Diamond attempt

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Neil diamond, is one of the singers that my voice has been compared to in some of my songs. I don’t try to sing like anyone else but myself, though my natural tone is reasonably similar.

The next video I uploaded was a Neil Diamond anthem (and probably still is). Cracklin Rosie. This was the first of many Neil songs for me on Youtube. This song was my introduction to Neil Diamond.

For those of you that like your numbers and figures. This was Neil’s first big hit in the UK. Getting to the number 3 spot in 1970.

So here goes. Again, I apologise for the poor sound quality in this vid.

This is one of a number of Neil Diamond songs I’ve covered on Youtube. If you want to go and take a look you can check out my Youtube Channel at:

Be happy.

My version of She.

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Charles Aznavour hit the number one spot in England in 1974 with She. It was playing all over the place. It was well liked. Obviously, as it was number one, Though I wasn’t all that hot on it. I wasn’t really into slushy songs at the time.

I changed my mind in 1999 when I heard Elvis Costello’s version. I like it immediately. Perhaps it was just his voice that made it for me, or maybe my musical tastes had changed. Not likely. It didn’t make me love the Charles Aznavour version.

Which led me to doing a version of the song, but more in the style of Elvis Costello.

So here it is. My take on the song.

I got quite a few good comments on this one, which I was very pleased about.

That about wraps it up for this post. So until the next one :)

My fourth vid. A coldplay song.

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

The fourth song I put up on Youtube was from one of my favourite bands. Coldplay. The song is Don’t panic and it’s from their first album, Parachutes.

This was the first Coldpay CD I bought. The best tracks on the album, in my opinion are Don’t panic, Trouble and Yellow.

So to the song. It’s not very long, but as with most coldplay songs. They created such a rounded sound with quite a simple setup, and Chris’s vocals are very expressive.

You may need to turn up the volume on your sound card again for this one because I think the volume is quite low.Down to business. This is my rendition of Don’t panic.

And here ends the post for my fourth video :)

Me. Snow Patrol and Chasing Cars.

Friday, February 20th, 2009

I wanted my third video to be a newer song. With this in mind, I went for the Snow Patrol number, Chasing Cars.

I bought a few of their albums over the last few years. I liked quite a few of the tracks that they produced, but this particular song stood out. I blurted it out a few times on Karaoke, and got some really nice comments. Well, I was happy with that. This one seemed like a good option for my third video.

Looking back over my last two videos, I was a little displeased with the sound levels. They appeared to be very low, though my comments were still good, and people were still subscribing to my videos.

I carried on regardless, and you can check out my effort below.

That’s number three out of the way :)

My second video

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

And now for my second video on Youtube. I got a few positive comments on the first one, though I must admit that the first coment was an un-intelligent expression. Most likely a child. I wasn’t bothered about it though. I’ve seen the best get bad comments. I’ve seen a real range of singers on there. From excellent to awful!

I’m going to be doing a post for each of the videos so far, and then I’ll post every time I put a new one up. I’ve got some catching up to do :).

If you want to check out what I’ve done so far you can go and visit my channel which is:

In the first video I didn’t really like where I had the camera pointed, so I’ve moved it. There’s a nice view of my stairs. Well, now you know I don’t live in a bungalow. :)

The second video I uploaded to Youtube is from a band whose music I admire. R.E.M. The song is called (Losing my religion). See what you think of my attempt at it:

Me singing Losing my religion

There are over a thousand songs that I have sung, but I still have a problem choosing which one to do next. I think it’s called too much choice. It’s confusing.

So onwards I go. Check out my next post, and if you can’t wait then visit my channel which is linked above.

All the best.

My first Youtube video

Monday, February 16th, 2009

A few months ago I created a channel of Youtube. My user ID on there is:

Jeffstunes

I’m going to follow my progress on YouTube. So here goes.

My experience on there so far has been a good one.

So What do I do. Well. I looked at other people singing on there and noticed a lot of them just sitting in front of a webcam singing, so I decided that’s how I would do things for the most part.

I’m going to be putting up my renditions of a load of different popular songs, and I’m I’m also going to put my own songs up too. To add to this, I’m going to put up videos of other interest too, but they won’t be too far away from music.

My first vocal adventure was a great old Joe Cocker song called “You are so beatiful”. You can watch it here:

Me singing ‘You are so beautiful’

If you’ve got time, then pay a visit to my channel where I’ve got a good collection of videos, and growing. I welcome comments. :)

Until next time. There’s lots of videos for me to waffle on about :)
