Exercises and tips

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

Very soon after I started posting videos. I got a request for help on singing from one of my initial subscribers. I put together a message for her which contained hints and tips that I had picked up over time. She got back to me, and asked me if I could make a video about it, because the information might come in handy for other wannabe singers.

Once I’d put together all the info, it led to me making 3 vids about it, because of the 10 minute limitation on Youtube. I tried to balance all the advice out into tips and exercises. All these would hopefully help to develop the vocals of those interested

Out of all of my videos. These ones have been seen the most. All together they’ve had over twenty three thousand viewings up to the date I posted this. They are currently getting several hundred views a day.

If you’re interested in an amatuers list of singing tips then check out my videos.

Video 16. Somebody

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Video number 16 on Youtube was a song I did by an excellent band. They are Depeche mode. When they started out, their style was electronic and bouncy, but they soon changed into dark and experimental, whilst still remaining very popular.

This particular song of theirs stood out for me as being quite different to what they were doing, and is, in my opinion. One of their best.

That song is Somebody, and here is my rendition of it:

Such a beautiful song with great lyrics.

My rendition of I am I said

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

I was getting pretty good comments on my Neil Diamond songs, so it was time to do another. The third of his songs I had done so far on Youtube. I was more pleased with this one myself, because of the improvement in my sound setup. This is a favourite among a lot of Neil Diamond fans. There are some notes which are quite low, but my voice coud cope with that pretty easily.

The song is I am I said.

and here is my version:

That’s about it for this one :)

It always rains on Travis

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

The fact that I had managed to improve the sound in my videos, made me happier with what I was doing. The clarity was so much fresher.

My next pick was from Travis. There are a number of songs of theirs I like, this one is “Why does it always rain on me”. I have a few friends who really like my rendition of this one.

See what you think:

When I started on Youtube, I found it strange, trying to pretend that the camera was a bunch of people. Getting familiar with it was something that was going to take time, but I was slowly getting used to singing to a glass lens :)
