My third Original tune

Friday, May 29th, 2009

The next video was my third original song that I uploaded to Youtube. It’s a slow number that has no percussion. I tried to keep the lyrics ambiguous so that they could appeal to more people’s lives.

The song is called “Blow away”, and it’s loosely about someone looking over their previous relationships, and how they believe that they were the reason for their demise.

My rendition of a Connells classic is next :)

Neil and Pulp fiction

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

This is a tune that was in a very popular movie titled “Pulp fiction”. The act that did a version of the song was called Urge Overkill. It was the first time I had heard the song, and I was surprised to find out that it was actually written by Neil Diamond.

A fantastic film and a great song. I enjoyed singing it.

Here is my version.

The 25th video is next. Which is another Original song.

And so it was

It’s Neil Diamond again. I was ploughing through my requests. There were loads more to do, and there were a few Neil Diamond song in there.

The next one up, off the list was “Play Me”. This one has to be in my top 5 Neil songs. I can’t really put my finger on it, but I really like singing it.

In an effort to reduce the Neil songs on the list, the next video is a Neil song too. Then it’s back to other songs.

But until then :)

A twisting of fate.

I’m giving video 21 a miss because I pointed it out in an earlier post.

So the next video in the sequence.

It’s a song I wrote a few years back. This is quite a popular one, among a good number of people. It’s not to be confused with other songs that share the same title. It’s called ‘Twist of fate’, and it was written from top to bottom, by me.

Check it out here:

Original song by Jeff Edwards - Twist of fate

I very often try different things with my music. I tried to provide an unorthodox arrangement to the song, so that it would reflect on the meaning. The verses are in the first half of the song, and the chorus at the end. It’s a powerful song. I hope you like it.

You’ll also notice that in my original song videos, I tended to use picture slideshows.

Any guesses on the artist for my next cover? Would Neil Diamond be of any surprise :)

Yet more Neil

The frequency of requests didn’t seem to be slowing down, and it was time for another Neil Diamond song. I had requests for a few Neil Diamond songs, and from all of those I chose to do Beautiful noise. This song did quite well. It has had over 750 viewings up to the point of this post.

So here it is. My allegedly Beautiful Noise.

I hope you liked it. There is more Neil Diamond to come from me. They were all requests, and they will be coming in later posts.

Yes there’s love if you want it

I did a Sonnet for my ninetheenth video. Actually, it was Sonnet by the Verve. Again this song was taken from the album “Urban hymns”.

As you will probably notice, I was still having issues with the video and audio sync, though that is definitely me singing the song :)

A lot of Verve songs are easy to sing because the note ranges are not too extensive.

Here is my take on this song.

I was getting a number of requests, and a few of these were for Neil Diamond songs, so the next one was one off those. So, until my next post :)

Original Changes

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Everything I had done so far on Youtube was cover versions. Except for the how to sing videos, so I thought it was time to start slipping in a few of my own original compositions. This particular song is called Changes. I wrote and produced this song from start to finish, on my own.

It’s about someone waking up and realising that they love someone, but having real difficulty in letting that person know how they feel. It’s a slow number, and you can find the lyrics in the video description if you go to Youtube.

I wrote this one about three years ago. I thought I might as well make use of songs I had already written by putting them up for opinion.

Check it out below.

A few more covers after this.
