The third selection. Winner

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

This is the 3rd of my old original songs choices. This is a song called “Winner”. The words can be interpreted in different ways, but the meaning I attach to it is for mistaken friends who need support.

This song was also co-written with Mick Paul. I finish off with details about what mick is up to now in his music career.

If you watched the last vid I posted, you will have learned that Mick played bass on a David Hasselhoff single. There aren’t many people who don’t know who he is. He’s been in smash hit shows such as “Knight rider”, “Baywatch” and “America’s got talent”.

This is “Winner” by Mick and I:

Winner - Jeff Edwards and Mick Paul

Mick is quite busy doing the touring thing at the moment, with an outfit named “The David Cross band”. David Cross used to be in a band called “King Crimson”. They were very well known. If you come from Italy, you might have heard of David Cross. He’s pretty popular there, and it’s one of the reasons why most of Mick’s touring takes place in Italy.

Now here’s the regular Youtube numbers update.

My subscribers have seen a really good jump in the last few days. Racing past the 700 barrier to 717.

The channel views have rolled along to 16,017. Another barrier broken.

Last but by no means least. The total video views. They are 246,003.To say I’m pleased is an understatement!!

I’d like to get a few Coldplay covers done for my next videos, because I love singing their songs.

Who knows what I will do. I’ll choose when I choose. It was about this time last year that I was getting ready for my first independant album release.

You can listen to some of the songs tracks and also download some of my original material for free on my website. Here’s the address:

The second old original

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

It’s the 2nd of 3 songs written by Mick Paul and I a while back, that I have selected to upload. Ths one shows off Mick’s Bass skills a bit. I wanted acoustic guitar and Bass only in this, and I think it turned out very well. The vocals drift off key in a couple of places. This song, and most of the others were only written hours before they were recorded, so I’m not really surprised at the mistakes.

The song is about a very dark subject, though I’m not going to tell you here. You’ll have to watch the vid to find out. I reveal the meaning at the end. It puts a whole new angle on the lyrics.

Returning to Mick. Here is some information on the history so far of this very talented guy:

Played on 2 singles in 1970.

Joined “The Hotshots” in 1973. They had a number 4 hit.

Joined “Union express” in 1974 and toured around Europe for 2 years.

From 1978, he did some session work for the B.B.C. and for a various number of publishers.

Did a stint as an in-house bass player at Abbeydale studios in West London.

He co-wrote the Labour Party campaign song in 1987.

Joined “More tea vicar in 1990.

Wrote and played on a single called “Aquarius” for Yello records, which was produced by Tyrrell.

Played on the “David Hasselhoff” single “If we could only say goodbye” (Yes. The Hoff).

and more..

I’ll provide a link to his recording studio website:

Mick is the person doing all the music in this song. He also did the music for the song in the previous post, and the next post I do.

The title of this song is “Losing my mind”. I hope you like it, and the Bass playing :)

Now here is the latest youtube account stats.

A rise in my subs to 692.

The Channel views are 15,540.

The total video views are now at 237,970. Still moving toward a quarter of a million. Rising at roughly a thousand views a day.

Next up is the third and final upload of my three old original songs.

I was still working hard on the album at this time. I woke up singing a song. Weird I know, but it was pretty good. I put the track together to see what it sounded like in real life, and if it made the grade, then It would be considered for the album.

Amber falls on the other side

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

I’m going to revisit 3 chosen songs I composed when I first started recording my music seriously.

A few years ago I wrote and recorded 9 songs in about two weeks with a very talented guy called “Mick Paul”.

Mick is a fantastic bass player and has done a lot in his career to date. He also owns his own recording studio, and this is where those 9 songs were recorded.

I’ve selected 3 of those 9 songs to put on youtube, and this one is the first of those choices.

The title of the song is “Amber falls”. The meaning is quite dark. Let’s see if you can work out the theme of the song, before the video informs you close the end.

Check out the video here:

I have put some snippets of info about Mick in this first video, and I will be adding more to the following 2 videos. It’s possible that you may recognise a name or two from the information to come.

I added a warning in the video description of this particular song, because the song has what is known as “Speaker busters”. They are very deep and loud bass hits, that can possibly cause some damage to a bass speaker when it’s on high volume. I just thought I’d let you know that. :)

Now for a youtube update.

I’m only 10 away from 700 subscribers now. So I’ve currently got 690.

The channel viewings have increased to 15,424.

My total video viewings are 235,621. At this rate, I might get to the quarter of a million by the first anniversary of my first video upolad to youtube.

In my next post, I’ll be bigging up the second of the three selected old original songs :).

Such a pretty garden

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

I decided to take a few days out from making my album, and I recorded a requested song, from a while ago. It’s a song I really wanted to do because it seems a very simple song, but it’s quite vocally expressive. The song I’m talking about is “No surprises” by “Radiohead”.

The making of the vid was pretty easy. Not much going on in it. Just me sitting in half shadow, throughout the song. The video of the original is just the man’s face in what looks like a space helmet, filling up with water. I didn’t use any water though.

Instead, I decided to think about different events in my life while singing, so my facial expressions would go through subtle changes.

Here is the result:

My cover of No surprises by Radiohead

As per normal. Here is the latest news on my Youtube account statistics.

677 subs.

14,891 channel views.

224,885 overall video views.

Until the next post :)

It’s a Broadcast fantasy.

Friday, October 9th, 2009

I was in the middle of writing another song when I came up with the idea for this one. So I stopped writing the first one to complete this song. It’s title is “Broadcast fantasy”.

Well, i’ve recently gone past a two year membership on Youtube, and at the end of my first year I wanted to upload a song in celebration, and this one seemed perfect. It’s a tongue-in-cheek look at TV addiction. As Youtube shares a lot of similarites with television, it seemed like the right choice to make.

This is different in style again, to my previous songs. I think this one sits more in the pop arena.

I hope you enjoy it like I did:

I put this video up less than a day ago, and the response so far is very good. Lots of lovely honours :)

So back to the numbers. Here’s the Youtube latest.

There are now 639 subscribers to my Channel.

My channel has now been seen 13,842 times, and all of my videos have received a total of 205,218 viewings.

I’m aiming to make the song I was originally working on, my next upload. Though I have been known to change my mind at the last moment :)

A face that’s different.

Monday, October 5th, 2009

I was watching Graham Norton a while back on T.V. and he went on a website that transformed faces into different ages and races. Such as an Afro-Caribean and a Manga cartoon. All you have to do is upload a front facing jpg of yourself, and you are ready to go. I didn’t hesitate to do it myself, and put the resulting images on my Youtube channel.

I made the video a challenge to other Youtubers. Requesting that they do exactly the same as me with their own pictures. Then post their video as a response to mine. That way, all our strange pictures could be accessible from one place.

This video was a slideshow, so I dug out a song I wrote a few years back, to use as the backing. The name of the song is “I understand”. This way I could get another of my tunes out, and have some fun at the same time.

Check out my video to see what happened to my photo:

Jefftsunes - I understand and funny faces

As per usual. Here are some Youtube numbers.

I’ve finally broken the 600 barrier with my subscribers, and they now stand at 605.

Channel views are 12,798.

Total video views are 186,136. So close to 200k now. It’s looking like it might pass that figure in the next few weeks.
