The non-album tunes

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Now it’s time for some original material. This one is the 1st out of a number of original compositions that didn’t make the cut for the album for various reasons. You can listen to clips of some of the album tracks for “Sight Or Sound” at:

Sight Or Sound - Jeff Edwards

Amazon and Ruckus also list this album. More to follow. 10 of the songs are in full on my Youtube channel, and the other 5 are not.

This particular song is called “Tell me why”. This is another from a large batch of songs I composed several years ago. It is centred around the demise of a relationship, that ended mysteriously. I’m confident that there will be a few that will recognise this dilemma. I did like this song, but I thought the chorus was a little weak, and there were better songs to choose from for the album.

You can check it out here:

More Dad stuff now.

My Dad. Part 5.

As I suggested previously, he once lived in a place named “Cowgate road” in Greenford, West London. In his mother’s residence. Music is something he was crazy about. So it was no surprise that he got into the scene. His instruments were Harmonica and Guitar. He was only ever a part of one band in his life. Their name was “The frasier chorus”. It was a 4 piece harmonica band, and my father played the chromatic. They had very little in the way of success. They never secured a record contract, but they did enjoy touring with bigger, well known bands.

As he was a part of the mevement, he spent time with a number of individuals that you may recognise today. He has shared a few of his stories with me, and I found them interesting, and surprising. Even with my tolerance. I suppose it wasn’t so much of an issue in the 60’s. Now I’m not sure if this happened in Cowgate road, but I’ve been told by my father about Lulu and Brian Poole of Tremeloes fame. My father never really liked Lulu. He had a few names for her but none of them are repeatable here. He informed me that Lulu used all the tools at her disposal in order to achieve fame. I don’t find that sort of thing surprising. Many people did that. Don’t quote me on this because it was my father that told me that Lulu and Brian Poole were having sex behind my grandmother’s settee. Floors are cold and hard. Well this one was. Why didn’t they use the couch. It would have been far more comfortable. Unless someone else was sitting there :)

To be continued…….

As always. Here are the Youtube figures to up to the time this was posted.

My subscriptions have increased to 953.

The amount of viewings for my channel are 22,268.

Aggregate video views are now 374,240.

Another original next that was a result of a suggestion.

My tune - Dont wish it away.

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Here’s another one of my originals. It was put up on YT a while back.

It’s an original song that I wrote over a year ago.

On all of my other videos that contains my original songs, the videos are comprised of image slideshows. This one is different. This is my first Original song video that contains moving images. I wanted the content to reflect the meaning, and I think I’ve done that pretty well.

The name of the song is “Don’t wish it away”. It’s about people who wish their days, or life away. Perhaps because they are sad or maybe waiting for something to happen. You’ll notice things vanishing, and also things going in reverse. There is symbolism in all of this.

Take a look and see what you think:

Here’s the regular digest of Youtube food (for me).

My subscribers are at a nice round 550.

The viewings of my channel are now 11,329, and the overall viewing figures all of my videos are now at 162,129.

Coming up next is a cover version. Something from a legendary artist. None other than Mister Clapton.

Another original. So Blue

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

Now for one of my own songs. This is a song called “So blue”. I wrote this one a couple of years ago. I wanted to do a song where I would start with one style. Then change the style part way through the song. This worked quite well with the words. The first part showing a happy face, and the second part telling the truth behind the facade.

This is “So Blue”.

There has been some positive action with my Youtube stats. When I turned my computer on this morning, I discovered lots of emails, and a bigger than normal jump in subscribers. This was due to another channel on Youtube. Every week they pick 5 Youtubers to feature in a video, and today it was my turn :)

So this is how it all stands at the moment.

My subs are now impressively up to 488

The channel views are 10,890

Total video views = 138,755

Next up is another original song from further back :)

Original. Escape

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Now to the second of two Original songs in a row. It’s title is “Escape”. This song has been liked by a lot of people. This song was written a few years ago, along with a load of others.

It’s about those that are tired of playing hard to get.

Here is the song:

Well, the Youtube stats have jumped, and I’ve passed another milestone.

I now have 402 subscribers. Past the 400 barrier. Oh well. 500 next.

I now have 10,301 channel viewings.

Finally the total viewing figures are at 115,368.

Next. The last of my three Originals in a row.

Convey by Jeffstunes

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Now for some Originals. This is the first of three. The name of the tune is “Convey”. I wrote the song with the sole intention of making the first showing of it on Youtube.

The good feedback on all my Original material has pleased me. It’s all been very positive. The meaning behind this composition is about how someone says what they say. Not just the words, but the intention behind them.

I hope you enjoy my song. Convey:

Back to the Youtube numbers.

On my last post there wasn’t an increase at all in the subscribers. This time I managed 1, so that takes me to 393.

10,111 Channel viewings. Rolling along nicely.

111,527 Overall video views. Still going at a good pace.

My second Original song in a row is coming next.

Anybody there - An Original

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

This is another song that I wrote.

This is another song I wrote a few years back. I wrote quite a few songs in the space of two months, and this one was among them. A number of friends and family took a liking to this one.

It’s name is “Anybody there”

It’s about someone who is feeling desperately lonely, and tries to contact people, but without luck. This makes the feel worse.

Here it is:

A Youtube stats update.

I’ve gained a couple more subscribers. The total is now 382.

My channel views have also jumped up to 9,730.

The total views for all my videos are now 107,229. Still moving strongly.

Next. A cover I recorded a few years ago, which I decided to put up.

The fourth one by me

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Now on the the 30th video.

This is one of my own compositions from over a year ago. It’s called “Why don’t you ask”.

It’s at a faster pace than my previous originals. I wanted to hear what it would sound like if I used a vibraphone in an indie song, and the results are in this song.

The song is about a couple. One of them is really interested in how the other person feels about things and asks these things. However, the other person doesn’t do the same. They just assume they know. Their assumptions are wrong.

Here is the song:

Now for some figures.

The subscriber count has advanced again.

There are currently 354 Subscribers.

I’ve just passed 99,000 overall views for my videos. At this rate. I am expecting them to pass the 100k during friday.

The channel views are at 9402. The next magic figure for this is of course 10,000. This might take a few weeks.

Back to cover versions for the next video. It’s a tune by Paul Weller :)

My third Original tune

Friday, May 29th, 2009

The next video was my third original song that I uploaded to Youtube. It’s a slow number that has no percussion. I tried to keep the lyrics ambiguous so that they could appeal to more people’s lives.

The song is called “Blow away”, and it’s loosely about someone looking over their previous relationships, and how they believe that they were the reason for their demise.

See what you think:

My rendition of a Connells classic is next :)

A twisting of fate.

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

I’m giving video 21 a miss because I pointed it out in an earlier post.

So the next video in the sequence.

It’s a song I wrote a few years back. This is quite a popular one, among a good number of people. It’s not to be confused with other songs that share the same title. It’s called ‘Twist of fate’, and it was written from top to bottom, by me.

Check it out here:

Original song by Jeff Edwards - Twist of fate

I very often try different things with my music. I tried to provide an unorthodox arrangement to the song, so that it would reflect on the meaning. The verses are in the first half of the song, and the chorus at the end. It’s a powerful song. I hope you like it.

You’ll also notice that in my original song videos, I tended to use picture slideshows.

Any guesses on the artist for my next cover? Would Neil Diamond be of any surprise :)
