Keep waking up

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

The reaction to the last cover I did, “Yellow” by “Coldplay” was really good. It got a good burst of viewings in the first few days. Over 800.

That was the most requested song on my list. Now on to the second most requested song. A fairly new number from one of my favourite bands, Travis. The title of the song is Closer, and it’s off of their latest album.

I had a few ideas for the video, but I wanted to save the best ones for my original songs. So I ended up making a video for this, which was humorous. The opening sequence on this video, really gave my video editing software a run for its money. I’m pleased with it though.

Check out my version of Closer by Travis. I hope you find the video amusing. I was laughing whilst making it.

I’ve uploaded a number of vids in the past few weeks, but it doesn’t seem to be affecting the growth in my Youtube figures so far. I’ve got 597 Subscribers now. Only 3 to get to 600.

The channel viewings are now up to 12,631 and there have been a total of 183,585 viewings of my videos.

That’s about it for now.

It always rains on Travis

The fact that I had managed to improve the sound in my videos, made me happier with what I was doing. The clarity was so much fresher.

My next pick was from Travis. There are a number of songs of theirs I like, this one is “Why does it always rain on me”. I have a few friends who really like my rendition of this one.

See what you think:

When I started on Youtube, I found it strange, trying to pretend that the camera was a bunch of people. Getting familiar with it was something that was going to take time, but I was slowly getting used to singing to a glass lens :)

Singing Travis

Now to another band I admire for releasing a string of good songs. They are “Travis”.

“Sing” was the song that I did as my 10th Youtube vid.

It was a top ten hit in the UK for Travis in the summer of 2001. The fourth of 4 top 10 hits in a row.

One of the things that turned me on to Travis was the guitar sounds they used. Quite tinny in places, but they managed to balance it quite well with the bass.

On to my rendition. Check out my version of “Sing” below:

I have done one other Travis song on Youtube, so far, and plan to do a few more in time. That’s likely to be well into the future.

I’m sure I’ve got loads of others to go between :)
